DTN.IQ Customization Help

You can customize the SmartBar by selecting its location on your desktop. You can have the SmartBar remain on top of any active application or go behind the active application. You can also change the SmartBar into a toolbar or a thin line (Autohide) and dock it at the top, bottom, left, or right of your screen. You can choose whether to display or hide the company logo on a docked SmartBar. You can select colors for the SmartBar title bar.

You can select color printing for all applications that support color. And you can check for updates to DTN.IQ applications and re-register controls for the applications.

To select the location of the DTN.IQ SmartBar:

  1. Move the mouse cursor onto the DTN.IQ SmartBar.
  2. Click the right mouse button and select Preferences.
  3. From the Preferences menu:
Select For the SmartBar to appear
Always on top On top of all open applications.
Autohide Hidden and as a thin line at the top, bottom, left, or right of the screen.

Note: To use Autohide, first you must select Always on top then attach the SmartBar to the top, bottom, left, or right of the screen.

Attach to top As a toolbar on the top of the screen.
Attach to left As a toolbar at the left of the screen.
Attach to bottom As a toolbar on the bottom of the screen.
Attach to right As a toolbar at the right of the screen.
Attach to none As the default SmartBar.

Tip: You can click on the Docking symbol  in the upper right-hand corner of the SmartBar, and then select Top, Left, Bottom, or Right.

To show/hide an attached DTN.IQ toolbar:

  1. Move the mouse cursor onto the DTN.IQ SmartBar.
  2. Click the right mouse button and select Preferences > Always on Top.
  3. Click the right mouse button and select Preferences > Autohide.
  4. Click the right mouse button and select Preferences > Attach To > Top, Left, Bottom, or Right.
  • The SmartBar changes to a toolbar and appears in the location you selected.
  • When another application is active, the toolbar becomes a thin line in that location.
  1. To show the DTN.IQ toolbar, move the mouse pointer to the thin line, for example, to the top of the screen.

Tip: To change the DTN.IQ toolbar to the DTN.IQ SmartBar, move the mouse cursor to the toolbar, click the right mouse button, and select Preferences > Attach To > None.

To show or hide the company logo on a docked SmartBar:

  1. Attach the SmartBar to the top, bottom, left, or right of the screen.
  2. Move the mouse cursor to the docked toolbar.
  3. Click the right mouse button and select Options.

The Properties dialog box appears.

  1. Select the Appearance tab.
  2. Click on the Display Company Logo when Docked checkbox to insert or remove the check mark.

Tip: Click on Apply to save your selections without closing the Properties dialog box.

  1. Click on OK.

To select SmartBar title bar colors:

  1. Move the mouse cursor onto the DTN.IQ SmartBar or DTN.IQ toolbar.
  2. Click the right mouse button and select Options.

The Properties dialog box appears.

  1. Select the Appearance tab.

Tip: The title bar background can be one solid color or two-color shading.

  1. Perform step A or B:
  2. To select a solid background color for the title bar:

    • Click on the Display Colored Shading check box to remove the check mark, if necessary.
    • Click on the Background Color arrow and select the title bar background color.

Tip: Click on Apply to save your selections without closing the Properties dialog box.

    • Click on OK.

Or

  1. To select a shaded background color for the title bar:

    • Click on the Display Colored Shading check box to insert a check mark, if necessary.
    • Click on the Background Color arrow and select the title bar background color.
    • Click on the Caption Bar Color arrow and select the title bar shading color.

Tip: Click on Apply to save your selections without closing the Properties dialog box.

    • Click on OK.

To select color printing for DTN.IQ applications (if available):

  1. Move the mouse cursor onto the DTN.IQ SmartBar or DTN.IQ toolbar.
  2. Click the right mouse button and select Options.

The Properties dialog box appears.

  1. Select the Advanced tab.
  2. Click on the Print in Color (if available) checkbox.
  3. Click on OK.

To check for DTN.IQ application updates:

Important: You are forced to reboot your computer after the download is complete. Therefore, before you begin this procedure, save all your work and close all open applications.

  1. Move the mouse cursor onto the DTN.IQ SmartBar or DTN.IQ toolbar.
  2. Click the right mouse button and select Check for Software Updates.

If updates are available:

    • A web browser window will appear and if an update is available, a link will appear to upgrade the software.

Tip: If you have unsaved work or open applications, close the browser window, save your work, close all applications, and repeat this procedure.

    • Click on Click Here to Upgrade DTN.IQ.
    • The Auto Upgrade window minimizes and the system downloads the new application.
    • A message appears notifying you the new version has been received.
    • Click on OK to reboot your computer.
    • The next time you launch DTN.IQ, the system re-configures your applications.

Tip: You can reconfigure your DTN.IQ applications at any time by clicking on Re-register all controls in current directory on next Connect.

To select your default trading provider for DTN.IQ applications:

  1. Move the mouse cursor onto the DTN.IQ SmartBar or DTN.IQ toolbar.
  2. Click the right mouse button and select Trading.

The Trading Options dialog box appears.

  1. For each DTN.IQ application, from the Trading Provider drop-down list select the provider.
  2. Click on OK.
