Trendlines Chart Help

Trendlines are upward or downward lines showing movements of average prices over a period of time. You can use Trendlines to chart the past direction of securities and help predict future price movements.

You can draw the following Trendlines on a DTN.IQ Chart:

Trendline Description
Horizontal Line connecting highs and lows at the same price.
Sloping Line connecting highs and lows at different prices.
Parallel Two parallel lines drawn on your charts.
Andrew’s Pitchfork Three parallel lines drawn from three points on your charts. The lines make up the two times and a handle of a pitchfork. The interpertation of a pitchforck is based on normal Trendline support and resistance principles.
Fibonacci Fans Use to anticipate changes in trends as prices near lines. Imaginary vertical line is drawn through the end point of the Trendline and marked at the Fibonacci levels o 38.2%, 50% and 61.8%. Three lines are then drawn from the starting point of the original line through the market points.
Fibonacci Retractments Use to antipcate trends as prices near the lines. Horizontal lines are drawn to intersect the Trendline at the Fibonacci levels of 23.6%, 50% and 61.8%. After a significant up or down price move, prices often retrace a significant portion or the entire original move. As prices retrace, support and resistance levels often occur at or near the Fibonacci Retractment levels.
Speed Resistance Series of Trendlins that divide a price move into three equal sections.
