Market Makers and Tiers Help

The bid and ask prices are arranged in different colored tiers. Market Makers that offer the same bid or ask price are displayed in same color tier.  The colors do not have a special meaning but, do make it easier for you to follow what price groupings are at a given range.  You can customize color tiers as follows:

  • Add or delete color tiers
  • Change the colors of the displayed tiers
  • Sort Market Makers within tiers on the following parameters:

Time

Size

Market Maker

  • Sort tiers in ascending or descending order

You can follow specific Market Makers on the bid and ask sides of the DTN.IQ Level II window by highlighting them.

You can display lists in gray or in color when the market is closed.

To add or delete a color tier:

  1. From the DTN.IQ Smart Bar, click the NASDAQ Level II icon. 

Note: You can change this setting from a blank Level II window or from a window with data.

  1. Click on the toolbar Settings icon. 

Or

If the window has data, right click on Level II data and from the right mouse menu select Settings.

The Settings dialog box appears.

  1. Select the Colors tab.

Color Tiers are represented on the left side and are numbered.

  1. To add a color tier:
  • Click on an unused color tier.

Tip: Unused color tiers are usually white.

  • Click on the Background box. From the Color dialog box, select the color for the new tier, and then click on OK to close the Color dialog box.
  • Click on the Text box. From the Color dialog box, select the color for the text, and then click on OK to close the Color dialog box.
  • Click on OK to close the Settings dialog box.

Tip: At any time you can click on Restore Default Tier List to return to the default DTN.IQ window display. The default display has six tiers in this order: yellow, green, light blue, red, royal blue and white.

To change the background or text color of an existing tier:

  1. From the DTN.IQ Smart Bar, click the NASDAQ Level II icon. 

Note: You can change this setting from a blank Level II window or from a window with data.

  1. Click on the toolbar Settings icon. 

Or

If the window has data, right click on Level II data and from the right mouse menu select Settings.

The Settings dialog box appears.

  1. Select the Colors tab.

  1. Click on the Tier whose color you want to change.
  2. Click on the Background or Text box.

The Color dialog box appears.

  1. Select the new color.
  2. Click on OK to close the Color dialog box.
  3. Click on OK to close the Settings dialog box and save your changes.

To sort tiers:

  1. From the DTN.IQ Smart Bar, click the NASDAQ Level II icon.

  1. Sorting can be done by:

  1. To sort, left click on the column header of the criteria you want to sort by and this will arrange the data by Ascending or Descending order.
  2. The active column will be signified by an up or down arrow.   The inactive column will be signified by a black dot.

To highlight Market Makers you want to follow:

  1. From the DTN.IQ Smart Bar, click the NASDAQ Level II icon.
  2. Access NASDAQ Level II data.

Right click on Level II data and from the right mouse menu select Market Maker Highlight.

  1. Click on the Market Makers you want to follow to highlight them.

You can select as many Market Makers from the bid and ask sides of the market as you want.

You can select different Market Makers from the bid and ask sides of the market.

  1. To remove the Market Maker Highlight from a selected Market Maker, click on the Market Maker ID.
  2. Click on OK.

Tip: To toggle the highlighted Market Makers on and off, click on the Follow Market Maker icon only if the Market Maker has been chosen in the settings.
