Volume Chart Help

You can draw Volume Charts showing the volume of the selected equity, index, or mutual fund traded by ticks, a specified number of minutes, daily, or weekly. The Volume Chart also displays the volume average for the selected interval. For the average period, you can select all data or a specified amount of look back data.

To display or hide the Volume Chart:

  1. From the DTN,IQ Smart Bar, click on the Chart icon . 
  2. Click on the toolbar Settings icon. 

The Settings dialog box appears.

  1. Click on the Lower Studies tab.
  2. Click on Volume in the Available indicators box and then click the add button.
  3. Click the Apply button to add the chart indicator..
  4. Click on OK to save your selections and close the Settings dialog box.

To select average period data for a Volume Chart:

  1. From the DTN,IQ Smart Bar, click on the Chart icon. 
  2. Click on the toolbar Settings icon. 

The Settings dialog box appears.

  1. Click on the Lower Studies tab.
  2. Click on Volume in the Available indicators box and then click the add button.
  3. To edit the period data displayed click on Volume in the Displayed Indicators Box
  4. Put a Ö next to Show Average and put a bullet in the radio box either by For All Data or Custom
  5. If you choose Custom, you can set the amount of data to display the Average Volume for.
  6. Click on Average Color box to change the color of the Average volume marker.
  7. Click the Apply button to add the chart indicator.
  8. Click on OK to save your selections and close the Settings dialog box.

To select Volume Chart colors:

  1. From the DTN,IQ Smart Bar, click on the Chart icon. 
  2. Click on the toolbar Settings icon. 

The Settings dialog box appears.

  1. Select the Lower Studies tab.
  2. Choose Volume from drop down menu in the Lower Studies section:
  • Label to select the color of the vertical and horizontal axes, tick marks, and labels on the Volume Chart.

Or

  • Data to select the color of the Volume bar.

The Color dialog box appears.

  1. Click on a color.
  2. Click on OK to close the Color dialog box.
  3. Repeat steps 4 to 6 to change the other colors.
  4. Click on OK to save your selections and close the Settings dialog box.
